Euphorbia lucida [Waldst. & Kit.] - Shining Spurge

On first glance the shining spurge looks very much like the marsh spurge. It dwells on less wet and more shady spots, especially in alluvial forests. In Germany it is a the western limit of its distriburion and it is quite rare here. In Bavaria only one population is left, and the plant is in danger of extinction. It can be kept easily at the pond, for it will grow on all moist soils. When in bloom, it is a true treasure of the pond.
