Nymphaea `August Koch` - Tropical Waterlily

(Koch & Pring 1922) This one got two `fathers`: August Koch did the actual crossing (`Blue Beauty` x `Mrs. Woodrow Wilson`) in Chicago and did send the (like he did with all his hybrids) to Missouri Botanical Garden, where is was tested and named by Dr. George H. Pring. For a long time it remained the best blue lily for small ponds and even for tubs since it deals very well with limited space conditions. Its flowers are blue and have a lovely fragrance. This variety is highly viviparous, it develops plantlets on most of its leaves. A fully grown plants will cover about 4 square meters.
