Despite its name this plant is not restricted to the pyrenees but it occurs in all mountain ranges from northern Spain to Liguria. It is a rare plant throughout this region. It grows short, reaching a maximum of 20 cms. Typically it grows on shady rocks, the leaves pressed down to the rock. The blue flowers appear in June and July. In the garden it needs a special spot, for example on rocks near an artifical waterfall.
