The Swamp Rose originates from the eastern North America, where she grows in a huge area from Canada to Florida. The warmer it is, the more water it needs. So comes this plant grows best in northern region in moist soil, while in the south it like to grow into shallow water. In Central Europe moist soil is the best place to grow it. It bears flowers similar to the dog rose, and like this it is adorned with rose hips in autumn.
