You will hardy find this yucca in a garden here although it can be hardy if you know how to grow it. It origins of the deserts of the southwest of the USA and there it has to stand temperatures below -20° C. The key to success is perfect drainage, for wet soil in winter will kill the plant. We cover our plants with a little roof in winter to keep rain and snow out. In southwest Germany at the Rhine river there are Yucca baccata kept outdoors that are several decades old. Yucca baccata is a stemless variety, growing about 60 - 80 cms here. We offer seedling from last year, they have survived their first winter in an unheated polytunnel. The seed was collected of plants that grew in extreme altitudes, so they should be among the hardiest of the species.
