Fontinalis antipyretica [Hedw.] - Fountain Moss

A plant with a very variable appearance. Its colour depends on the chemistry of the water, its appearance depends if it grows in running or stagnant water. In garden ponds it usualy covers the ground with short shoots in dark green or brown. It produces a lot of oxygene, even in winter, and fish love to spawn in its thickets.
