A hundred years ago there was a village that was famous all over Europe for the peppermint that was grown there. It was the best peppermint available on the market, and it contained more menthol than other varieties. Pharmaceutical companies were simply mad for it. The variety that was grown there was an improved `Mitcham` mint, and the village was in - no, not in the UK. It was the small village Eichenau near Fürstenfeldbruck in Bavaria. Today mint farming there is but a memory, but there is an interesting mint museum. Here is your chance to try this mint in your garden.
