When this flower is in bloom, the cuckoo calls again and you know that spring is here for good. Its one of our most charming native flowers, still widely to be found in moist meadows and along river banks. Its flowers are white to palest pink and appear already early in April. It is an edible plant that can be used for salads and soups. In our region it is part of the traditional herb soup on Holy Thursday. In the garden it will grow in moist soil as well as in ordinary soil.
