(Latour-Marliac 1908) The flowers of this variety are not fully double and yet the shape of the flower is globular like that of a peony. The flowers are pink, most intensive in the centre of the flower and fading to almost white to the outer petals. The overall effect is almost that of a bicoloured flower. `Fabiola` is an extremly floriferous variety. You will still find in literature the claim that `Fabiola` is a synonym for `Mrs. Richmond`. This claim is wrong as we know since recently. `Mrs. Richmond` is another variety by Latour-Marliac from 1913. It was imported by a British nursery and when this nursery run out of `Mrs. Richmond` they simply sold plants of `Fabiola` under the other name. Those wrongly labeled plants were also sold to other nurseries and so the mistake was propagated by division. Soon the impression arose that under both names was hidden the same plant. Something similar happened in the USA. There a nursery run out of `Fabiola` and they substituted it with `Odorata Luciana` - again without informing their clients. Unfortunatelly for `Odorata Luciana` two further names were in use: `Luciana` and `Pink Beauty` (both invalid). Chaos was complete: three different plants were sold under five names and all names were used for all plants. Only nowadays in the times of internet it was possible to solve this puzzle by simply trading pictures and information.
