Tansy grows along rivers and on gravel. It was used as a spice and a medical plant. In England it was even used to prepare a sort of pudding. That was no good idea, for tansy is quite poisonous. On the other hand who can tell if it was really more dangerous than many dishes of the notorious English kitchen still are (`In mint sauce! Asterix, the poor pig!`) In the garden tansy is harmless and pretty. Its intense scent will tempt noone to try it (it doesn`t stink, but it also doesn`t smell like something edible). In mid summer its yellow flowers are an ornament for every garden.
