This bubble mint matches colour and scent to a perfect union. The flowers show a merry orange and the foliage is equaly merry mint-scented. Flowers and foliage are edible and make very good infusions. The plant comes from the southwest of the USA and grows on very dry soils. In the garden it prefers a sunny and sheltered spot with sharp drainage. Drainage is especially important during winter for wet soil in winter will kill the plant. If you got no suitable spot in your garden you may want to try it as a tub plant (with a drainage layer in the tub). If kept dry during winter it will stand temperatures as low as minus 20° C for a while. Potted plants become very beautiful and you can use them to gain cuttings in spring that will flower the same summer in your flower bed.
