Wermouth is a plant native to Europe. Its foliage is silvery-green and much divided. It is mainly cultivated for medical and culinary purposes, but it makes also a pretty silver-grey foliage plant for the border. On a sunny day it gives a mediterranean touch to any flower bed. Wermouth is very bitter, which stimulates digestion. My mother found out that it can be used for roast of pork (it was a mistake. she intended to use mugwort but confused the plants). Although the roast of pork was so bitter that it was absolutely inedible, she didn`t throw it away but used it to prepare aspic (we Swabians are so thrifty that we consider Scotsmen lavish). The result was a surprise, all the bitterness was gone and the aspic tasted delicious.
