Japanes Cress is often used by by aquarists as submerged plant in the aquarium. There it is usualy pale green and gives a fragile impression. In the wild it lives under quite different conditions: on wet meadows from Eastern China to Japan. If you keep with just its feet wet it changes to a completely different plant: sturdy dark green leafs, strong and healthy looking and in spring covered in small white flowers. Use it as a ground cover at the margins of the pond. It knows to behave and will never squeeze its neighbours out.
