Cyperus cyperoides [(L.) Kuntze] - Pacific Island Sedge

We received this one by the name Scirpus cyperoides, which is just a synonym of Cyperus cyperoides, the Pacific Island Sedge. Can that be this plant? We are very doubtfull. The Pacific Island Sedge occurs only in the South Pacific, in Africa, in tropical Asia and in South America. With other words: only in regions without frost in winter. Our plants survived three winters without damage (without any protection, even not with a hula skirt on). So it is probably a different plant, we just can not tell which one. It is for sure a variety of Cyperus, a true perennial and about knee high. So far it did not bloom for us.
