(Daubeny 1863) The first tropical hybrid ever - but there is some daubt if Daubeny did the cross with intent, for it is a cross that also occurs in the wild. Perhaps Daubeny simply found a seedling in his pond. Anyhow, it is an excellent variety for the watergarden.  The colour of the flower can vary from pale blue to almost white. It is extremly florferous, stands halfshade and does colorate cooler water. It is also viviparous and quite often the young plants start to bloom when then are still attached to the mother-plant.
