While in Germany cultivation of the southern succisella was regarded impossible (`bizarre` was the comment of the official when we asked for permission to grow this plant), the UK already developed varieties of this species. They even grow on ordinary garden soil if it is not too rich in lime. `Frosted Pearls` is one of these varieties. Like its forefathers it will grow well in a peat bed, but also in a border if given ample water. Its flowers are similar to the wild form, mainly whitish with a light hue of blue. Its wild relatives grow in our peat bog and they cover now several square meters although we have asked them several times to stop this bizarre behaviour.
