A bell flower with a long history in horticulture. Its native home are the mountains of East Asia and Siberia. The Chinese were the first to take interest in this plant. During centuries they created several very nice garden varieties from it. When the Europeans started to explore Chinas flora they often were unable to tell apart wild varieties from garden varieties. So it was here the spotted bellflower received the name Campanula nobilis and later it was changed to Campanula punctata var. rubriflora. Only recently the mistake was detected and now `Rubriflora` is spelled with a capital and quote signs, thus indicating it is a garden cultivar. Keep undisturbed for years and it will form a large colony that needs almost no care at all and becomes more beautiful every year.
