The Himalayan Cranes-Bill is a very good perennial that performs well in many places in the garden, as long as the soil is not too dry. UK nursery Ingwersen selected a clone wiht very large flowers and smaller foliage and named it `Gravetye`. It is in flower from mid summer to autumn, and in autumn the foliage starts to `bloom`, that is the foliage shows marvellous autumn colours like the best of maples do. If you cut the foliage after the first flush of `true` flowers, you will provoce a second bloom. This cranes bill grows more or less carpet-like and does also well as a ground cover.
